A fond fare thee well to the splendors and solitudes of Winter. An adios to the seclusion of taking a blind curve at high speed, knowing there will be no rollerblader, geriatric, or obese dog in your path. My ride today was fecund with nuphreds, spandex boys that survived the winter by riding on rollers and jerking off to Tour de Drugs videos. Mothers fat at the thighs, waddling themselves and their offspring awkwardly down the bike lane, jabbering on cell phones all the while, oblivious to the beauty surrounding them. Intent only on burning calories, and getting the hell back to their minivan. I ride unfettered, no despised ipod, no distraction. Solid rubber, 26mm, with no spikes, crackles across the still sandy pavement. One gear fixed, and my thoughts are, and this is really sick, "I miss Winter already".

In case anyone thought that Texas had the strangle hold on stupidity, I give you Utah. It is now a criminal offense to have a miscarriage. The same people who honored gun manufacturers on Martin Luther King day, and considered eliminating the 12th grade to save on education expense, have now made abortion illegal, and miscarriage a jailable offense. So here's a scenario. Man beats wife, who is so poor and afraid she is forced to stay. She has a miscarriage, she goes to jail, he pleads to assualt, she gets negligent homicide. He gets a fine. Jesus would be so very proud. Except that he was a jew, and you killed him, and now he is dead.

Unbelievable warmth today. 27 balmy degrees. I saw liquid water yesterday, and a drunk college kid fell through the river and drowned. Two sure signs that Spring is well on it's way. An absolute oddity, at least one a year, these college kids. I lived near the Pacific Ocean for 28 years and can think of only one person I knew who drowned. Maybe some sort of sacrificial dunking of the drunk King to usher in a swift and purposeful Spring. Anywho.....Kill your TV.
